Halo around her neck

"There was a halo resting above your head but it slid down around your neck and I bet you thought I'd never find out 'cause you think you're so clever." – Swimming With Dolphins

On another note, this doesn't even look like it's around her neck and her hair looks like noodles.

Oh yeah. I so got this. (Nonotreallywhyyyyy)

Balance, barefeet, and a little bit of stars

It's not very far

Sporatic Updater, that I am

Something from classes again. They're both pen and ink drawings and the first one is done by pointillism while the second one is by crosshatching.

They more or less flipped out my eyes as I was working on them.

And this was done last semester, but I finally got around to scanning it in. It's a sort of aquatint etching. Kinda proud of it despite how chaotic it is. It also showed on on the art school catalogue (though more on the print-making major booklet than the illustration one) so I can't complain.

Aaaand, that's pretty much it till who-knows-when.

9.26.2011

Uhhhh....

Just a quick stop on by to show the only decent thing I've been doing lately so far. This was done on Illustrator with the pen tool only with a God-only-knows how many layers. It was for class so...naturally I'd be done with it.

Uhhh...GONNA GO RUN OFF NOW.

Day 8: Favorite animated character

Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin

Okay, so, long story short. Kenshin was what my young middle-school hormones dubbed "first bishi ever." Haha. HE WAS MY ROLE MODEL. FOR EVERYTHING (includingguysshhhh). Now he's just a fond memory of the "what-the-hell-were-you-thinking-woman" category.

I luv u 4evur, Kenshin.

Creepiness aside, decided to try out an ink-like sumi-e style. Except not really, cause I broke all the rules of what makes sumi-e beautiful. BUT I WON'T GO INTO THAAAT. Also, I just realized that Kenshin is wearing a scarf when it's spring. Uh. I'll just make the excuse that it's early spring. So it's still cold. With the wrong colored cherry blossom. Er.

(I JUST WANTED TO DRAW A SCARF OKAY.)

Typography is harder than I thought.

Day 7: Favorite word

ves·tige/ˈvestij/Noun
1. A trace of something that is disappearing or no longer exists.
2. The smallest amount (used to emphasize the absence of something): "without a vestige of sympathy".
Grunge texture is from a DA called Princess of Darkness
So, yeah. It doesn't really look like the word and I think it gets really confusing towards the end. Still, it was a nice change from drawing (somewhat) realistic things and I decided to tinker around with typography. And I kinda broke the first and foremost rule to it with a bulldozer: make the word legible. Oh, well. It was fun nevertheless in drawing circles and going nuts on the saturation. It appeases the rainbow puking conscious in me.
AND I AM NOW CAUGHT UP WITH THE CHALLENGES.
AND WATCH ME GET BEHIND AGAIN TOMORROW WHEN I HAVE TO STUDY FOR MY PSYCH FINAL. OH YEAH.

ILLUSTRATOR CS5. I NEED YOUUUU

Day 6: Favorite book character. Can't be a movie

Mary Russell Holmes

This was was hard choice to make, though it was hard in the first place CAUSE I HAVEN'T READ BOOKS IN A WHILE. And the ones that I have are already in some movie form.

Anyway, Mary Russell is from a mystery novel series by Laurie R. King. If you want to see what's up with this shenanigan, check it up here: Wikipedia: Mary Russell

So yeah. I kinda tried to do the whole Alphonse Mucha thing, but I think it ended up being more like what I've been doing the past couple of days instead. It doesn't look particularly Mucha like. Ah well. Still, it was fun drawing short hair on women. I really like those bobs from the 1920s...

And, dammit, making those Mucha patterns in the BG is really hard to do if you don't have the help of nifty Illustrator and is, instead, stuck with Photoshop 7.0. Hrm.

Day 5: Best Friend

Jennie

Was trying to play around with gradients even more with transparent pngs again. I think I'm getting a hang of this by trial and error. And textures are fun. And now they are my friends.

I was attempting a less accurate definition of the body, like round edges and such. It was actually kind of fun, really, not having to concentrate completely on how limbs look like. Oh dammit, I forgot to flip, too. I need to make a habit outta that.

Day 4: Your favorite place

A quiet hillside in Cortona, Italy. The minute saw this lookout, I knew this place was home.

Well, so far, with this 30-day drawing challenge, I'm learning that I actually don't know how to draw all sorts of things on the computer. I mean, I knew that before, but this activity is pretty much shoving all my mistakes and ignorance into my face. Mercilessly. It's a bitch, if you're willing to ignore my sailor language.

Strangely, (even though I'm dying inside a little from mortification each and every fecking time), this doesn't really discourage me. I guess I'll just have to try harder now that I actually know what I'm shit at. Ahahaha.

And dammit, why'd I have to decide to draw clouds? They're the hardest feckers. *nerdrage*

This was how it was supposed to look like:

I tried not to copy from it, actually, but I think, in the end, I should've since I had no idea what I was doing.

Oh well.

Damn you, education

So yeah. Kinda maybe failed a little on the 30 day challenge BUT I'M STILL GONNA DO IT. I'm just gonna ignore the days of the week, that's all.

Day 2: Your favorite food

It's another experiment with transparent pngs and the brush that I kinda failed with last time. I AM DETERMINED TO DEAL WITH THIS THING.

And I can't draw ovals on the computer. Everytime I flip it, the drawing's all like "HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS FAIL? HOW." And then I'm just like "OH, GOD, I'M SO SORRY." *sob*

So yeah. Drama. Everywhere.

BTW, it was supposed to look something like this:

Tofu soup. Yeah. Uh.

8.01.2011

Guuuuh

I already feel my drawing fuel tank emptying. Why does lineless drawings have to be so hard. Or maybe I just fail at coloring. Gah.

Day 2: Draw your favorite animal.

It was this or a cat. They would have both looked more or less derpy. Was trying to experiment with another brush, but I didn't really come out the way I wanted. Messed with gradients instead. And textures are quickly becoming my new best friend.

7.30.2011

I AM ON A ROLL HERE.

 Keep drawing. Don't stop. EVER.

By the way, the below picture is a very late gift in coming for the wonderful person that is Faiell .

(Fanart of Mukuro, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!)

By the way, I am doing this. I am making it happen.

Day 1: Draw yourself

I kinda wanted to try out the transparent BG and whole MSPA troll costume. So...why not do both?

1.19.2011

Hm.

So. Here I am. Starting. Gosh, what am I getting into.
